** Did you know that last year Minnesota held its first ever ALL girls state wrestling tournament?

Burnsville had a 5th place finisher at sections. **

Register for our FREE Rookie Camp. November 14 - November 16, 2022

This camp is designed for kids with less than two years of wrestling experience and who have an interest in learning more about the sport. First year kids will be introduced to the most basic techniques, which will give them a solid foundation entering the wrestling sessions being offered. For kids with one to two years experience, this camp will give them a jump start on their season.

Our Youth Wrestling season begins November 21st, 2022

​

PreK-5th Grade: Starting November 21st, practices are held every Monday, Tuesday  6:00 to 7:30 pm at Burnsville High School in the Wrestling Gym A153. The season ends on February 12th.

​

Spring Freestyle/Greco Wrestling begins March 6th, 2023

​

Wrestlers will focus on Freestyle and Greco-Roman style wrestling. MN-USA card not required for class participation, but will be needed to participate in tournaments.

Guest Coach on Tuesdays: Jose Quintana

​

Quintana had a four-year career at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where he was a four-year letter winner and a four-year All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference performer. Wrestling at 149 lbs., Quintana finished with 84 career wins, including a 22-8 record as a senior when he finished as runner-up in the WIAC. As a freshman and sophomore he also wrestled under current Lakeland Head Coach Mike DeRoehn, who was the head coach at Oshkosh at the time.

​

Quintana also gained coaching experience with the Aviator Wrestling Club in Oshkosh, coaching Freestyle and Greco - Roman wrestling, and was part of a team that brought home ten state titles at the state tournament. In the summer of 2012 he also assisted with the Wisconsin Junior National Freestyle team. He also assisted with DeRoehn's World Class Wrestling School, helping run practices, workouts and camps for youth this summer.

Quintana is a native of Burnsville, MN where he was a multiple - time state place winner and as a senior was a champion at 135 lbs. at the Oshkosh On The Water Tournament. He graduated from UW - Oshkosh in the spring of 2012 with a degree in Liberal Arts including an emphasis on Spanish.

Burnsville Youth Open Tournament

Sunday, January 8th 2023

Burnsville is hosting a youth wrestling PreK-5th Grade folk style tournament. It will be a 4-man bracket round robin format, bracketed by age, weight, and classification when possible.
